The best cheap laptops of 2023
Well, without further ado, let's start with the best cheap laptops of 2023. To make the list, we have not only taken into account the price, but also the design, the technical specifications and many more aspects.
CHUWI HeroBook
Look at the great offer that we have found a little below because this model is definitely worth considering, for this reason we have put it first. It is a thin and silent notebook. It is probably best used as a second laptop or as a work laptop for students and professionals. You get what you pay for, so you better not expect speed or usability. However, despite being the cheapest laptop on this list, it packs some pretty impressive features.
The most impressive is its 256 GB, this is a great feature that most of the laptops we have included on this list lack. You should think of the CHUWI HeroBook as Microsoft's answer to the Chromebook. If you don't get along with Chrome OS and are used to using Windows 11, then this is one of the best cheap laptops from Microsoft.
This computer it would be very suitable for a rather light everyday use: surf the Internet, use Microsoft Office (such as Word and Excel), control and update social networks, use streaming video services ...)
Lenovo V15
It's one of the cheapest laptops on this list, but that doesn't mean it's not powerful. For everyday use it will provide you with a fairly long battery life, fast processing And you can even play simple video games (for the more complex ones it falls short but if you are looking for a laptop for a child, this is a great option, trust me).
In our experience, the main drawback of this laptop is that it does not have a DVD drive. However, this is becoming the norm for laptops in this price range, so don't let this put you off, as most software you'll need, such as Microsoft Office, can be purchased as a download. , no disk. Although, if this really is an inconvenience for you, you can choose to buy an external DVD drive for less than 30 euros.
Other than that, due to the large size of its screen, its quality and the aforementioned characteristics, this is a great laptop for tight budgets.
ASUS VivoBook Go 14 inch HD
The Asus VivoBook is possibly one of the best cheap laptops for everyday use on this list. It has become a top seller on Amazon, and when compared to other laptops in its price range, we can easily see why.
The features that we have summarized in the previous list are quite normal for an all-terrain laptop, so what makes it so special? Well, Asus chose to offer unbeatable value for money and a Full HD screen with Integrated graphics card and Dolby Advanced Audio so you can watch television or a movie with all the quality you expected.
This is the kind of laptop that you can use both for work and multimedia. Although it is not the smallest or most portable, it is still quite easy to take from house to outside and from outside to home, work on it with Windows 10, watch movies and television or even play simple video games. For what it costs, I affirm that it is one of the best laptops in this price range on the market.
HP Pavilion 14
This laptop is a bit cheaper than the other recommended ones, but we have decided to include it anyway because in other budget laptop guides it has made it to the top spots, even ranking first on PC Advisor's list of the best affordable laptops of 2023. So, is it worth it to pay that extra money or is it worth it with this model?
We have included the HP Pavilion 14 on our list of best laptops for tight budgets because it can take anything you throw at it (except bricks) and a little more.
It flies quickly through all the basic work applications such as Microsoft Office, web browsing in general, streaming video services and even allows you to play video games (although we must not forget that it was not designed for that, it is a bit slow and the graphics are of medium-low quality).
For all this, we consider it one of the best laptops in its price range, since you can get it for less than 300 euros.
Lenovo IdeaPad 1 Gen 7
The presence of the Lenovo Ideapad on this list is a bit strange. This notebook has a rotary LED touch screen, Full HD (1920 x 1080). This means that you can put it in viewing mode if you want to comfortably watch YouTube videos or any movie.
Is the one has the best processor on the list, so it is undoubtedly a great option if you are looking for good performance and enjoy a laptop with which you can work without problems.
It is a little lighter than the other laptops, but it still cannot compare in that sense to the Chromebooks that we review below. It is more powerful than the laptops we have described in previous paragraphs and, although the folding screen may seem a bit gimmicky, it is said to work very well thanks to the fact that be tactile. Basically this model has the same usability as the Packard Bell EasyNote, but with some superior features.

Laptops comparison: Final result
The evaluations we carried out led us to choose three winners among the 10 laptops analyzedThese are the three models that we include in this laptop comparison.
El first classified, winner of the Gold Award, is the HP Envy x360 de 15.6 inches. This laptop has a powerful AMD Ryzen processor and 1 TBB SSD. In addition, it works with Windows 11, has a battery life of more than 9 hours and weighs only 1,3 kg. Its screen is excellent, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and up to 2560 x 1440 in motion.
It is true that the 1.5-inch size does not have the largest screen on the market, but it makes up for it with its portability. The HP Envy x360 features three USB 3.0 ports giving you quick access to all USB peripherals. This laptop supports SD cards and HDMI. The manufacturer offers phone, chat and online technical support, in addition to social media.
El Second classified and winner of the Silver Award is the series Dell Inspiron de 15 inches. The processor speed of this laptop is good, 3,1Ghz, like its basic processor, Intel Core i3, gives it a fast response. What is very attractive about this laptop is that you can upgrade the graphics card to an Intel UHD video card if you need to work with high-definition graphics. Its hard drive storage capacity, 1.000 GB, is sufficient and gives you plenty of space for your multimedia files.
The operating system, Windows 11, works well. It has a long-lasting battery that reaches 5 hours and 45 minutes, the truth is that this aspect could be improved. The Inspiron is a little heavier than our winner, at 2.2 kg, this is, in part, because its screen is 15 inches. Like the HP Envy The basic screen resolution is 360 x 37.7 pixels, but you can upgrade to a much higher resolution, 1920 x 1080 – or in other words, a 4K display. It has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port.
Finally, the third place and winner of the Bronze Award is the Acer Swift 3 de 15 inches. This model has a high-performance processor speed, quite large for a laptop in this category. With its overall rating of A-, our performance data shows that the processor is not what keeps this computer in third place. The basic model has a 512 GB SSD and its operating system is Windows 11.
Its average battery life is 7 hours and 36 minutes, which is below the average for the laptops we have reviewed. The basic screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, but it can be upgraded to 2560 x 1440. Additionally, the Acer Aspire Swift has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port.
[alert-announce]The comparison is of the most prominent models, so the models cost around € 1.000. If you have a tighter budget, see our comparison of quality-price laptops or our cheap laptop reviews to find the cheapest ones.[/alert-announce]
Types of Laptops
To finish with our laptop comparison, we will describe what the different types of laptops are in case you want to expand each section a little more since we have related articles.
As with any other major purchase, when you are thinking of acquiring a laptop until the last euro counts. It is a device that will last a few years, therefore we recommend that you take a look at our guide to the best laptops before making any decisions.
A few years ago there were only laptops to hang out and laptops to work. Today, instead, several options for each category. Let's start with the basics:
Ultrabooks
These laptops are basically devices that must meet certain characteristics of thinness, lightness, power and size set by the Intel processor, in an effort to help loyal Windows laptop makers that compete with Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air.
In order for an Ultrabook laptop to be marketed as such, it must meet the rigid specifications set out by Intel. It must be thin, it cannot be thicker (when closed) than 20 mm for 13.3-inch screens or 23 mm for 14-inch or more screens. In addition, it should have a battery life of six hours if you are playing high definition video or nine if it is idle.
[alert-success]Take a look at the cheap ultrabooks comparison what we have.[/alert-success]
It cannot take more than three seconds for the Ultrabook to come out of hibernation. These laptops generally have solid state hard drives and features like voice commands and touch screens. Ultrabooks are designed with portability and performance in mind, but are priced higher, typically starting at $ 900.
The result has been some Top quality laptops that have nothing to envy of the best Apple laptops. Ultrabooks are laptops around 2 centimeters thick, with a long battery life and sharp display, like the Dell XPS 13 or the Asus Zenbook.
The Lenovo Yoga is not only an amazingly thin and light laptop, but is absolutely revolutionary at the design level. Mounting a 13,9-inch screen in an 11-inch frame is no small feat, but Lenovo has also performed the miracle of creating a monitor without an almost infinity edge. The Yoga 910 is also a very powerful, rugged laptop with a very affordable recommended price. For all this we consider it the best Ultrabook.
Laptops for gaming
A gaming laptop is exactly what you think - a PC for true video game fans. In short, they are not used to play Candy Crush or Angry Birds, but to play really heavy PC games that need a high-end processor, 8GB to 16GB of RAM, a minimum of 1 TB of storage and a graphics card. specialized, which is the most important feature. Laptops for gaming are generally more square and their construction is more robust than other laptops, and their screen is usually high resolution.
[alert-announce]You can see our analysis of the best gaming laptops. [/ alert-announce]
Laptops for gaming they don't have to be thin or light, since normally the players use them instead of the desktop computer. A gaming laptop allows you to play the same games as a desktop computer, but with the advantage that it is portable enough to move from one room to another or to play at a friend's house.
In recent times, gaming laptops have made incredible progress trying to catch up with their desktop counterparts. In this sense, it seems that the most logical conclusion for this evolution is to start including pieces of the desktops in gaming laptops. This model is a incredibly powerful 15,6-inch laptop, with a full-size desktop processor and top-of-the-line mobile GPU available. You might think this combination would make a huge laptop, but this one manages to pack it all into a fairly small body.
Laptops for Students and Work
Business laptops are similar to the traditional general purpose laptops discussed in other articles, but they are built to a higher quality, their components are more durable and generally sold with longer and more comprehensive warranties. You shouldn't need to replace your laptop for business every couple of years because it's out of date.
[alert-success]On this occasion we recommend the student notebook guide.[/alert-success]
These types of laptops are designed with their performance in mind, with quad-core processors that can easily handle several complex tasks simultaneously since you should be able to run all the software necessary to carry out your task, without the computer slowing down. These laptops generally don't have large graphics cards, but they can be added if your work includes graphics or video editing.
The HP Pavilion 14 in many ways could be like a MacBook Air, but it is a better machine in many ways. It's thinner, lighter, and in some ways more attractive thanks to its aluminum body. Furthermore, this laptop also has a Higher resolution Full HD display, an Intel Core i7 CPU and 1TB of storage HDD as an option. However, the most surprising thing is that you can get all this for around 800 euros, which makes it one of the best laptops if you have a student budget.
Work stations
Designed almost exclusively for work, hence their name, these generally thick notebooks have only one thing in mind: productivity. Vendors generally equip these units with professional-grade GPUs, such as the Nvidia Quadro series or the AMD FirePro line.
Other of its characteristics are a wider variety of ports and easier access to the internals than other entertainment laptops. Not to mention more legacy inputs, like TrackPoint cursors, and hardware-level security options, like fingerprint scanners. As examples we can mention the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and the HP ZBook 14.
The Lenovo Ideapad 330 thanks to its discreet aesthetics and its durable and resistant design, it's pretty much everything you want from a mobile workstation. Plus, it offers professionals a great screen resolution, long battery life, and robust, reliable performance.
Considering that it costs from 900 euros, it is worth paying that extra for everything it offers to professionals who work outside the office.
Two-in-one laptops (hybrids)
If you are one of those who combines the use of the laptop with that of the tablet, it is likely that a hybrid device is the ideal for you. Enabled with a dual-use operating system, Microsoft's Windows 8These devices can be in the form of tablets to which accessories can be attached to act as laptops, or they can be in the form of a laptop that takes the form of a tablet when detached from the keyboard. You can see here our comparison 2-in-1 convertible notebooks if you are interested in these models.
Of course, the idea is to provide a device that can serve successfully both as a tablet and as a laptop, so as not to have so many gadgets hanging around the house. Introducing these devices to the market has not been easy, but the brightest example of their potential is Microsoft's Surface Pro.
The HP Specter x360 is not only the most amazing and versatile device from the HP brand to date, but it is the most compelling hybrid laptop on the market. After years of refinement, this new hybrid tablet from HP has undergone some pretty significant improvements, such as a larger screen or higher resolution. In addition, some small elements have been redesigned, such as the hinge or the type of cover, to make the HP Specter much more stable and easier to use.
Gaming laptops
You'll recognize a gaming laptop as soon as you see it: colossal size, flashing lights, garish paintings, and whirring fans. Although Thanks to the appearance of thinner, lighter and more elegant models, such as the Razer Blade or the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro, this paradigm is beginning to change..
[alert-success]Pressing at this link You have a complete comparison of laptops for gaming.[/alert-success]
Generally speaking, gaming laptops are equipped with the latest mobile GPUs from Nvidia and AMD to be able to play the latest games as well as if you played with a desktop computer (There are some models that can directly replace the desktop computer).
General Purpose Laptops
This last type of laptop is difficult to classify. They are machines that still follow the standards set decades ago of what is supposed to be a laptop, albeit more refined. Taking into account all that the laptop market has given of itself, typically those in this category are considered cheap or mid-range computers.
These laptops range in screen sizes from 11 to 17 inches and generally don't have too many features that stick out under their typically plastic casings. They are computers able to perform everyday tasks but they fall short when you have more demanding needs. I believe that this infographic It will help you a little to see everything more graphically.
In 2014 the 13-inch MacBook Pro was arguably the best laptop Apple had ever released. The 2022 model is somehow even faster and offers longer battery life. Aside from an internal update, the 2022 13-inch MacBook Pro has inherited the newly introduced Force Touch trackpad. Perhaps Apple does not stand out for its business applications, but getting a Mac is very attractive if you take into account the software it offers and its updates.
Chromebooks
Chromebooks are one of the smallest and lightest laptops on the marketBut they lack the power and storage capacity of traditional notebooks. Instead of a Windows or Macintosh operating system, Chromebooks run on Google's Chrome OS, designed specifically for browsing the internet and little else. Typically their hard drive is very small - around 16GB - the screen is typically 11 inches, and they usually only have one USB port.
[alert-success]We have a complete comparative analysis of the Chromebooks as the best small laptops.[/alert-success]
However, they allow you to store photos, videos and other documents on Google Drive instead of on your hard drive.. Its screen resolution is normally 1366 x 768 pixels, which is enough to surf the Internet and watch a movie from time to time. Also, you can always connect a set of USBs to increase connectivity.
The result is a system that can run on low-end hardware, making Chromebooks ideal for tight budgets or for students. Of course, Chromebooks work best in areas where there is wireless internet access, but Google has been greatly boosting its offline functionality lately. To get an idea of what they are like, you can take a look at the Dell Chromebook 11 or the Toshiba Chromebook.
Netbooks
Netbooks are similar to Chromebooks in that they are very small, inexpensive, and optimized for web browsing and little else. These notebook computers do not have an optical drive to play DVDs and CDs. Nevertheless, Unlike Chromebooks, netbooks usually run on the Windows operating system, whether the latest or previous ones, with which most users are familiar.
[alert-announce]You can press here to see the best cheap netbooks. [/ alert-announce]
Furthermore, many netbooks, with their detachable touchscreens and keyboards, are on the border between laptops and tablets. A netbook is a great laptop for those who like to use applications to play games, but prefer to type with a physical keyboard.
Better small or big?
Whatever their category, laptops They are typically 11-17 inches in size. Your decision about what size laptop to buy should be based on these two factors: the weight and the size of the screen.
First of all, the size of your laptop screen directly implies the amount of content it can display and its size, obviously. However, you should also keep in mind that, As the screen size increases, the resolution should also increase. You should not accept anything less than a resolution of 1366 x 768 for 10 to 13-inch laptops, or 1920 x 1080 for 17 to 18-inch laptops.
Second, you should keep in mind that For every inch of screen you increase, the weight of the laptop will increase by about 0.45 kilos. Of course, there are exceptions, there are light and thin models that break this trend. Maybe you want the sharpest and largest screen on the market, but are you willing to carry it in your backpack?
What features should you look for?
As with most tech gadgets, laptops often come with a number of features that you may or may not need by default. The features that we list below are the essential ones, the ones you should look for when buying your laptop.
- USB 3.0- This is the latest standard in USB data transfer technology. Make sure your laptop has at least one of these ports so that file transfers between your laptop and, for example, a USB 3.0 flash drive are faster.
- 802.11ac Wi-Fi: Until now 802.11n was the fastest wireless Internet connection, but in the last year 802.11ac and 802.11ax routers have appeared, such as WiFi 6 and 6E. If you plan to use your laptop to stream videos or download a large number of files and content, you should seriously consider choosing a model with that type of Wi-Fi connection.
- SD card reader- With the popularization of the Smartphone camera for taking snapshots, many laptop manufacturers have started to eliminate this feature from their models, however, if you are a photography enthusiast, you might miss an SD card reader.
- Touch screenWhile the merits of a touchscreen in a laptop are questionable for now, we never know what the future will bring. However, it is a feature that can make the set more expensive, so evaluate well if it will be useful before deciding.
Questions to ask yourself before buying
Before rushing out to buy the best looking laptop, you should ask yourself the following questions. They will help you decide which type of laptop is best for you.
What are you going to use the laptop mainly for?
If you will mainly use it to surf the Internet, watch streaming videos and make video calls with the family from time to time, surely you will have enough with a computer for general or economic use. You like to play? There you have the answer. You move a lot and you need a thin and light laptop, try an Ultrabook. Answering this question will always point you in the right direction.
How much do you care about design?
There are laptops of all shapes, brands, models and sizes - not to mention layers of paint or materials. If you tend to scoff at the ugly design of the laptops you see around you, you probably just want a computer with an aluminum case, or at least a soft-touch plastic. But beware, the design is usually expensive.
How much can you or are you willing to spend?
In the end, this should be your main barometer when deciding which laptop to buy, you should never spend more than you can. Your budget will dictate which category of laptop you buy.

What have we valued?
You may not have realized it, but the laptop has been with us for a whopping 30 years, although in its early days it was little more than a pretentious typewriter. For decades, traditional desktop computers provided more computing power, greater storage capacity, and better monitors at a lower price. In the mid-XNUMXs, it was normal to have a desktop computer, but some families began to see the benefits of having a laptop.
Over time, the Internet has evolved from dial-up modems to the wireless routers that we currently have and, in parallel, laptops have been improving to meet the needs of users who needed to move with their computers. Once a gadget for businessmen, bankers and the military, today it has become an essential tool for everyone.
As portability is the main value of a laptop, when evaluating which computer to buy, you should pay close attention to its size and weight, without forgetting its processor and its memory capacity. Although modern laptops no longer weigh more than 9 kilos like the old ones, you can still see the difference between a 2.72 kg model and a 1.84 kg one. If you are a student and you plan to take your laptop to class, you will have to transport it in a backpack or bag and you will surely appreciate that it is a small, lighter model. But, on the other hand, if you are a sound engineer and you are recording a live concert of a music band, what you will ask your computer is to be as powerful as possible.
There are many different types of laptops. You can spend a few hundred euros on a basic laptop or several thousand on a high-end gaming laptop. With some you can only surf the Internet and write emails, while others are able to run video and photo editing programs without any problem. The type of laptop you choose should be in line with the tasks you plan to do with it. Do you need it to work? Do you want to watch movies or your favorite TV shows on it? Are you a creative person or are you fond of video games? In this laptop comparison we have evaluated the best models on the market. If you want to go deeper, you can read our articles on laptops.
What is the best laptop in this comparison?
The answer to this question is not simple and it has nothing to do with the laptops that we have put in our table. The best laptop is the one that meets the needs you are looking for and that do not have to coincide with those of another person.
While you may be looking for the lightest laptop on the market to travel with it everywhere, another user may be looking for the opposite.
For this reason, in our laptop comparison we have tried to meet the needs of all audiences, betting on the best model in each segment in relation to its quality price.
If you don't know which computer to buy, leave us a comment and we will help you choose the one that best suits your needs.
Final conclusion
The ideal laptop for you will depend entirely on what your needs are, of what you are going to use it for. It is for this reason that the list is ordered by price and not by "quality".
If you are looking for a laptop to use sporadically (such as to check your email, surf the web, update your social networks, edit photos, watch Netflix or do some of your work with Microsoft Office or Google Docs, do not stress with Chromebooks), I highly recommend that you consider a Chromebook. Look at the ones at the top of this guide. If even with that, you insist on buying a Windows laptop, or you need something more powerful, you can opt for one of the computers that we recommended at the beginning.
In this same article you will find the ones that have the best value for money. Also if you look a bit around the web using the navigation menu and others you will see that we also have comparisons and more specific articles depending on the type of laptop you want to buy. You may want to see the best gaming laptops (for gaming), or the best laptop for work, etc.
As you can see from the list, I will be totally clear with you. All the laptops you will find below are Windows computers. And, to be fair, I've added the Windows models that I hate the least. It is not that Windows laptops are bad, but that I usually use a Chromebook that can be used for the same tasks and, in general, they are cheaper (as you can see). It goes without saying that Apple Macbooks have no place in this guide 🙂
